Name a Satellite-Tagged Sea Turtle

The Giving Coast

BY BRITTANY MATTIE SRQ DAILY FRIDAY WEEKEND EDITION FRIDAY AUG 2, 2019

Members of the public can participate in a naming contest of a satellite-tagged green sea turtle while supporting Mote Marine Laboratory’s Sea Turtle Conservation & Research Program (STCRP).  Mote sea turtle biologists have tagged seven green sea turtles with satellite tags this summer—allowing researchers, and the public, to follow their movements when they leave the beach after nesting. Six of the seven tracked turtles have been named already. Now Mote wants help naming the innominate, last turtle.  Supporters can make a gift now through August 9 to be entered for a chance to be picked to dub the lucky number 7 turtle.

First, visit mote.org/NameMe and select “Marine Animal Research and Conservation." Enter the gift amount and type 'TURTLE' in the 'Donor Comments' box. After August 9, a winner will be selected at random and the winner will be contacted via email.
