Urbanite Theater has announced its 2019/20 season, with a slate of six productions set for the blackbox stage. The season begins May 31 with Eleanor Burgess’ The Niceties, followed by Stacey Gregg’s Scorch. October sees the return of the Modern Works Festival and the second annual exploration of new plays by female writers, and November brings The Thanksgiving Play by Larissa FastHorse. Urbanite rings in 2020 with a January production of Sender by Ike Holter and then concludes the season with Cory Finley’s The Feast, opening March 13, 2020. “This little collection of plays ignites big questions about identity, love and authority,” says Urbanite Co-artistic Director Brendan Ragan. “They dare us to engage in messy battles, adventurous themes and biting satire. They’re challenges to uncover the new ideas that will shape the world we live in.”
