White Wins Modern Works Festival with "The Space In Between"

Urbanite Theatre has announced the winner of its inaugural Modern Works Festival, which saw three emerging and established female and female-identifying playwrights competing for cash prizes, offering their new works to be read at the Downtown Sarasota theater over the past two weeks. Mercedes White took first place with The Space In Between, winning the $5000 prize as the judges' selection and leading the audience vote with 62% choosing White's work as their favorite. Jayne Hannah took second with Stalking, and Gina Femia took third with The Violet Sisters.
