Children's Foundation Receives $275k from Selby Foundation

Business

Because of Selby Foundation’s $275,000 award, The All Star Children’s Foundation is closer to its goal to build a state-of-the-art five-acre campus that provides children victimized by abuse with a place designed to heal, empower and inspire. The award will help fund a 12,000-sq.ft. treatment center on the campus, which will also include six foster homes, a community center, a playground and a garden. The treatment center will house the administration, trauma-focused therapy offices and the research center which is being developed in collaboration with Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. The foundation of the project stems from the latest in brain science research that supports that adverse childhood experiences, if unaddressed, can lead to negative physical, mental and socio-economic outcomes as adults. Children will receive trauma-informed treatment in a setting where they can thrive, where they can experience unconditional love and where the course of their lives will be forever changed. The All Star Children’s Foundation is a nonprofit organization based in Sarasota whose mission is to create a safe place for children to heal from the trauma of child abuse.
